Does Your Vehicle Have Hail Damage?

If you’ve been with us in North Texas this season, we have already had our fair share of hail storms. Unfortunately, even with the best intentions, sometimes hail and your vehicle will come into contact. Once the hail storm is over, it is important to access your vehicle for damage to see if anything needs to be fixed. One of the largest benefits to repairing hail damage, in addition to aesthetics, is resale value. So what do you look for?

Dents

Let us start with the obvious one first, you examine your vehicle for dents. Dents can truly be located anywhere, but specifically check the trunk, doors and sides, the hood, and door jambs. Any dent, however big or small, could be from the hail storm.

Cracked Glass

Secondly, you will check for broken, cracked, or chipped glass. The most obvious place to start would be the windshield, but then be sure to check the side and back windows as well. Cracked glass impairs your vision while driving, so it is important to have that fixed. In addition, severely cracked glass could shatter while you are in the vehicle thus posing a safety risk to you and your passengers.

Mirrors

Finally, check your side mirrors. First, make sure the hail did not knock them off. Depending on the severity of the storm, they may not be there. If they are still attached to your vehicle, check the joints and make sure they are still properly attached without any signs of potential failure. You definitely do not want your mirrors shaking or falling off while you are operating the vehicle.
